A lot of the bedroom sets you’ll find in retail stores are fairly generic, and honestly, cheaply made. Mass-produced dressers and nightstands can be made from particle board with a wood veneer glued to the surface or from a less desirable wood species. The drawers and their hardware may not be very sturdy, which could cause the drawers to sag or even break at some point. Even in what some might consider higher end retail stores, the quality isn’t always top-notch.

Mass-produced pieces also aren’t customizable, so even if you like certain aspects of the bedroom set, there might be details that aren’t quite perfect.
